I’ve been documenting weddings for over a decade, and have been fortunate to shoot at some really dreamy venues all around the world. I wanted to do a series of posts highlighting the most stunning wedding venues in California. There are so many incredible venues in the area, and quite a few hidden gems, that are not only incredibly stunning at first glance, but also have that extra special element of having the most incredible opportunities for breathtaking portraits – the light, the backdrops, the architecture, the way the sun filters into the ceremony space…these are all elements that I’m drawn to as an artist and documentarian.

The Most Stunning Venues in San Diego….

1. Fairmont Grand Del Mar
A venue filled with Grandeur with pristine architecture and landscaping. I love this venue for it’s perfect shade of pink walls and Moorish architecture in the gardens. There are so many amazing nooks to photograph and explore.

2. The Darlington House – La Jolla, CA

A sweet, Spanish courtyard space that feels intimate and serene and is close to some of the best beaches in La Jolla. The Darlington house has a very photogenic getting ready room, library, ceremony and receptions space.

3. Rancho Valencia

Such a romantic property for a rustic and elegant wedding! There are so many spaces to take breathtaking portraits from hidden gardens, Spanish courtyards, and textured walls.

4. Luce Loft

This stunning venue is a blank slate with poured concrete walls and texture. The ultimate modern, industrial-chic wedding venue.

5. Moniker General

A super cute space for an intimate yet stylish wedding or the perfect spot for a rehearsal dinner. I love the way the peachy pink walls and the clean elements of the interior photograph.

6. Building 177

A blank slate venue with lovely light, vaulted ceilings and lots of clean angles to create the wedding design of your dreams.

7. Inn at Rancho Santa Fe

An iconic relaxed California countryside venue. There are plenty of lush green backdrops and courtyards for stunning backdrops

8. Hidden Castle – Rancho Santa Fe, CA

This hidden gem has a European look and feel, and is absolutely a dream location!
